Tooth Day Tuesday- July 11, 2017

Yesterday on The Rahny Taylor Morning Show on 97.3, Erin and the group spoke about sugar-y foods and how sugar can (and does!) affect your teeth. To learn more about how plaque bacteria are fed by sugar and how it can eventually turn into calculus, give a listen to the segment! Remember your trip to the dentist every 6 months can help rid your teeth of calculus build-up. So, don't fret!

Why is Thumb-Sucking Bad for Your Teeth?

Yesterday, on the Rahny Taylor Morning Show on 97.3, Erin discussed with the group why thumb-sucking is not good for your child's teeth.

Ultimately, it comes down to the fact that if you have something, like your thumb, between your upper and lower teeth for long periods of time, your teeth will develop around your thumb. When your teeth develop around something else, they don't line up properly in front. Oftentimes then, the front teeth won't be able to come together, decreasing the functionality of the teeth both for eating, and sometimes speech.

While most children will drop this habit at a relatively early age, it is good to be aware of it and to try to help them to break it sooner than later. If you ever have concerns about your child's teeth, we encourage you to come in and ask us! We are here to serve you!

Why Are X-Rays Important? Find out on Tooth Day Tuesday!

Yesterday was Tooth Day Tuesday and Erin was on with Rahny and the team at 97.3 talking about the importance and safety of X-Rays and how new dental technology is making the implant process easier.

Listen to the full segment below but here are a few key takeaways from the conversation:

  • X-Rays are important to your dental health. They can see things that the naked eye cannot see. If you have decay between your teeth, and X-Ray is really the only way to find that.
  • Digital X-Rays have very low levels of radiation, making them very safe for patients.
  • 3-D X-Rays allow doctors to see how deep and wide your jaw bone is, allowing for implant placement to be much more specific and exact. This makes the process easier for the dentist and the patients!
