Why Are X-Rays Important? Find out on Tooth Day Tuesday!

Yesterday was Tooth Day Tuesday and Erin was on with Rahny and the team at 97.3 talking about the importance and safety of X-Rays and how new dental technology is making the implant process easier.

Listen to the full segment below but here are a few key takeaways from the conversation:

  • X-Rays are important to your dental health. They can see things that the naked eye cannot see. If you have decay between your teeth, and X-Ray is really the only way to find that.
  • Digital X-Rays have very low levels of radiation, making them very safe for patients.
  • 3-D X-Rays allow doctors to see how deep and wide your jaw bone is, allowing for implant placement to be much more specific and exact. This makes the process easier for the dentist and the patients!

Why do we visit the dentist twice a year?

This week on The Rahny Taylor Morning Show, Erin and the group spoke about why it's so important to visit the dentist regularly. There are a couple key takeaways here:

  1. How often you should see your dentist is something that you should decide with your dental health professional. While the average is once every 6 months, some people would greatly benefit from going more frequently.
  2. Visiting your dentist regularly allows your dental health professional to assess how your home dental care is going. Checking on the health of your gums is extremely important and being able to catch any decay early will benefit you in more ways than one.
  3. Even the best brusher could get decay between their teeth. Flossing regularly is a good way to try to prevent this type of decay but going to see your dentist regularly will allow them to check and see how everything is looking. X-rays can be very helpful in catching decay between the teeth early.

So remember, visit your dentist regularly and discuss with them how often you should be going to properly care for your teeth!

What's the deal with fluoride?

Yesterday on The Rahny Taylor Morning Show on 97.3, Erin talked to Rahny about the importance of fluoride and why you should ask for it at your dentist. Fluoride bonds with your enamel to make your teeth more resistant to decay. This is true whether you are a child or an adult and therefore, fluoride is beneficial for all patients. For more information on the benefits of fluoride, please visit the ADA website.

Happy Tooth Day Tuesday!

Just like every Tuesday, Erin was on The Rahny Taylor Morning Show on 97.3 this morning talking about a few common tooth issues. Bad breath and tooth whitening are topics that relate to a lot of people and yet aren't always easily discussed. As always, we are trying to make it easy and comfortable to talk about your oral health and get you the care you deserve.

Bad breath affects many people and trying to overcome it is generally easier than people think. Making sure your home care routine is a good one, and that you brush your teeth and tongue and floss, will help to ensure that your breath is fresh as can be.

Another topic that is everywhere these days is teeth whitening. Nearly every product in the tooth product aisle seems to be a whitening product. What is best for you and your teeth? Well, ultimately that is a conversation you should have with your dentist or hygienist. They can provide you with options that are best for you.
